In roughly one month, on January 9th, 2013, writer Chris Uhlig (http://pennywonderfuls.tumblr.com/) and I will be releasing a webcomic we’ve been working on, entitled Argos.
You’ll be able to find it here: http://argos.smackjeeves.com/
It tells the story of Revan, a young man working as a messenger and living on an island suspended in the sky. The island is just one of many, an entire nation of fragmented land-masses floating above the sea far below.
No one really knows exactly what keeps the land in the sky, except that it has something to do with Ether, a natural magic energy. Ether is everything in this world; technology is outlawed, everything relies on those who can bend Ether to their wills. It makes airships fly, crops grow, thread weave and rain fall.
For the most part, the world seems to work. But when Revan (thanks to some curious circumstances) leaves his island home and starts to see the world, things start to unravel.
Maybe he just sees things differently; it turns out the world is bigger than it seems, and everything fits together a little differently than he thought.
You can follow the Twitter for lovely updates:https://twitter.com/argoscomic

Jane Day, of PI Jane!

When PI Jane was starting out, I was graciously hired on by Lauren Burke and Greg Sorkin to do the art. I was young & dumb and didn’t know how to prioritize, and then school started - so I never wound up being able to go through with it. After some general character design stuff and a few pages, I had to quit.

It’s been up and running pretty solid for a couple of years now, and Tony Maldonado does some pretty sweet stuff with the characters and everything! You should all check it out, it’s purdy good. Also littered with pop culture references. :)

I like that my characters are actually going to have recognizable silhouettes. YESSSS.

I’ve changed up some design things, so here - have an old concept sheet.

I think that after we wrap up the first volume of the comic, I’ll be releasing an art book with all of the concept stuff. I know this seems a little ridiculous to talk about - especially considering no one knows anything about the actual comic itself. BUUUT there has been a looot of visual work and a lot more to be done, so I think it’d be pretty neat to show everything it went through.
